GYC welcomes this exciting news and thanks Secretary Ryan Zinke for his leadership on this issue. It shows that protecting our lands, water, and wildlife from fly-by-night mining companies is something that everyone can get behind regardless of political party. This will give us breathing room to pass Sen. Jon Tester's Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, which will keep risky mines from Yellowstone’s northern gateway not just for 20 years, but forever.

While this announcement is great news, we’ll still need to make sure the Interior Department follows through. Stay tuned for more details on how you can help us protect Yellowstone’s doorstep from gold mining.
