Work continues on Yellowstone winter use plan; public comments due Friday

Editor's note: One thing we all agree on — it would be nice to have some finality to this issue so we can all move forward toward a cleaner, quieter, healthier Yellowstone in winter.
For the past decade, litigation and court rulings have stymied creation of a Yellowstone National Park winter use plan—which would dictate how many snowmobiles and snowcoaches are allowed in the park each day.
During that time, the park has been operating under temporary plans, causing uncertainty for area business owners, park visitors and others.
This fall, however, that long struggle may culminate in a final plan. Between now and then, though, a number of steps must take place.
