Sep 27, 2005 - New Data Indicates That Many Fish in Southeast Idaho Are Contaminated with Selenium
- Seven southeastern Idaho streams have high levels of selenium in fish, according to recent data collected by the Greater Yellowstone Coalition. Fish, water, aquatic plants and aquatic insects were collected by GYC and analyzed by Research Triangle Institute (RTI) in North Carolina. All 21 fish samples had high levels of selenium. Many fish had levels 2-4 times greater than EPA’s proposed, and more lax, selenium standards.
