GYC provides $100K for Wyoming wildlife crossing project

The Greater Yellowstone Coalition, with support from the Volgenau Foundation, has donated $100,000 to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) for a wildlife crossing project north of La Barge in southwest Wyoming.

This funding will be used for the Dry Piney wildlife crossing project. The project calls for installing underpasses, fencing, and related improvements along a 28-mile stretch of US 189 between La Barge and Big Piney, Wyoming.

VICTORY! Montana court denies mining company permit to explore for gold near Yellowstone

Yesterday, a Montana district court ruled in our favor and denied a permit that would have allowed Canadian mining company Lucky Minerals to explore for gold in Emigrant Gulch just north of Yellowstone National Park. Today, the president signed the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management and Recreation Act into the law of the land. Included in this sweeping, ground-breaking legislation was the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act. Now and forever, 30,370 acres of public land on the northern doorstep of Yellowstone National Park will be protected from destructive and toxic gold mining.
