Protecting Clean Water
The rivers, lakes, and streams of Greater Yellowstone support a vast array of wildlife, provide safe drinking water for the region’s communities, and sustain agriculture that feeds the nation.
Clean water is at the core of our economy, ecology, and quality of life.
Across the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem our water quality is under threat. The fates of the region’s communities, fisheries, and wildlife are irrevocably tied to the health of our rivers, lakes, and streams. Polluted runoff, excess nutrients, and toxic mining waste are all factors that put Greater Yellowstone’s clean water at risk.
The Greater Yellowstone Coalition is committed to protecting the water quality of our ecosystem’s iconic waterways. We advocate for protective policies, promote on-the-ground restoration, and fight irresponsible mines that threaten the health of vital waters foundational to the ecosystem. From Montana’s Paradise Valley to the foothills of the Centennial Mountains in Idaho, we are hard at work keeping our waters safe and clean.
