JULIA BARTON

COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

As a communications associate, Julia works creatively to support GYC’s conservation campaigns through various methods of storytelling.

Julia was born and raised in the mountains of southwest Montana where her parents instilled in her a deep-seated love for the landscape that shaped her childhood. She studied journalism at the University of Southern California and has worked in local news, communications, marketing, and as an environmental journalist with a focus on Greater Yellowstone. Through connecting with knowledgeable folks from across the region, she has found a drive to amplify stories that have the power to inspire the lasting change needed to conserve her homeland.

Based in Bozeman, Julia can often be found enjoying the many trails and wild spaces adjacent to town. Her hobbies include hiking, skiing, reading, photography, music, and the overall experience of creating things with her own hands.

Favorite Greater Yellowstone Animal: Gray wolf

Book I’d Recommend: Limber by Angela Pelster

Favorite season in Greater Yellowstone: Spring. Feeling sunshine on my skin after a long winter might just be the best feeling ever.
