GRACE LEMEN
IDAHO CONSERVATION ORGANIZER
As the Idaho conservation organizer, Grace focuses on community outreach and engagement in southeastern Idaho. She supports various Greater Yellowstone Coalition campaigns and projects through special events, volunteer work, and relationship building.
The past decade of Grace’s career has been dedicated to public lands and people. As an outdoor guide, she took people on backpacking, llama packing, cycling, hiking, and ATV adventures across the American West. Her passion for the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem comes from her time working for the National Park Service at Grand Teton National Park as an interpretive park ranger and visual information specialist. Under the iconic "flat hat" Grace gave hundreds of programs about the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to visitors from across the U.S. and world. She also used graphic design to create print and digital materials to educate and improve visitor experience.
After years of seasonal life, Grace is now enjoying her planted roots in Idaho. Yoga, biking, hunting, cute coffee shops, farmers’ markets, and time on the river all bring her joy. She’s also quite happy to have a cozy day at home cooking a big meal, tending to the backyard chickens, and watching a History Channel documentary.
Conservation Hero: Robin Wall Kimmerer. Her voice is rooted in community and a belief that humans ARE part of the landscape.
Book I’d Recommend: Braiding Sweetgrass. What a beautiful reminder that our collective connection to nature is not lost.
Favorite Greater Yellowstone Animal: Bison. I cannot imagine a better symbol of hope for the future of conservation.
