montana conservation organizer

The Montana Conservation Organizer (MCO) builds local support for GYC’s campaigns and projects in Montana. Working closely with the Montana Conservation Coordinator and other GYC staff, the organizer will help develop and implement strategies that engage Montanans in conserving the state’s public lands and natural heritage. A primary responsibility for the organizer is to create a broader, more diverse base of support for conservation outcomes in the state. This position employs a wide variety of organizing strategies, from supporting and participating in canvassing to direct outreach to community leaders and business owners to planning and attending public events. The organizer works closely with the Montana Engagement Partnership (MEP) to support and manage a canvass team that collects data and builds contact lists in priority communities. This position will use data to help build a proactive agenda based on shared values like public lands, clean water, and abundant wildlife. Managing contacts in GYC’s database and ensuring proper follow up with key individuals and entities are also important tasks assigned to this position. The organizer often works in collaborative settings with stakeholders representing a diversity of views and is responsible for representing GYC in a professional manner. This position also plays a key role in coordinating organizing activities with GYC’s Development and Communications departments.

Finance associate

The Greater Yellowstone Coalition (GYC), a non-profit conservation organization, seeks an experienced and skilled Finance Associate. Reporting to the Finance Coordinator, the Finance Associate is responsible for processing payroll and accounts payable. The Finance Associate will assist with the bank reconciliation and periodic reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Reviews financial statements prior to distribution to management and assists with quarterly financial information for the board of directors. Assists the Finance Coordinator with other tasks as needed to maintain GYC’s accounting systems, records and reports. In addition, s/he provides support to the Human Resource Coordinator, which may include aspects of personnel records and benefits administration in relation to payroll.  S/he relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
