EMILIE RITTER
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING
Emilie is an organizational leader with nearly two decades of experience as a skilled storyteller, public policy advisor, and strategic project manager. Emilie’s communications and marketing approach is driven by storytelling, strategy, and data to best amplify the incredible work of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition.
Emilie is a fourth generation Montanan whose family ties to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem date back to the 1930s. A graduate of the University of Montana’s School of Journalism, Emilie spent a decade reporting on the political, environmental, and economic issues of the West for news organizations like NPR, the CBC, BBC, Reuters, and regional public radio stations.
Emilie has directed strategic communications for the state of Montana’s Commerce Department and Office of Public Instruction. She built a communications team for the National Center for Appropriate Technology, a nonprofit whose focus is building resilient communities through sustainable agriculture and renewable energy.
Emilie and her two boys spend much of their time exploring Montana and our backyard trail system. Emilie’s work to amplify the issues surrounding the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and to build upon the legacy of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition is personal. Emilie wants to ensure the region that means so much to all of us is thriving for her children and future generations.

Conservation Hero: The Western writers, artists, and filmmakers who’ve introduced millions of people across generations to the West and Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. It is because of their stories that so many of us were drawn to visit, to take action, and to keep a piece of this place in our hearts.
