JARED BAECKER
WYOMING CONSERVATION MANAGER
Jared leads our conservation efforts throughout northwestern Wyoming. He builds partnerships with local and federal agencies, landowners, and complimentary nonprofit organizations to achieve durable conservation outcomes. Jared has spent over two decades leading conservation and education initiatives in Wyoming. Most recently, he has been working on water quantity and quality issues throughout the Wild & Scenic Snake River headwaters.
Jared is often found exploring wild waters using various watercraft with a flyrod and binoculars in tow. His furry companions young and old are Washie and Cheoah.
Favorite Greater Yellowstone Animal: Great gray owl. There is nothing more special than witnessing a Great Gray on the edge of a dark old growth forest.
First Job: My first job was working at a coffee roaster. Thirty years later, I still order their coffee and brew it fresh each morning.
Conservation Hero: The Craighead Brothers, Frank & John, combined their emerging skills as scientists with a passion for conserving wildness. Their work to establish the concept of Wild & Scenic Rivers is something that I benefit from every day.
